Job summary

Sanford Health, a leading national health system, is seeking a Patient Access Representative to deliver exceptional patient service as the first point of contact in a clinic or call center setting. The role emphasizes welcoming, accurate data capture, and smooth navigation of registration and scheduling processes.

You will work with a team to greet and register patients, coordinate appointments, manage financial responsibilities, and ensure timely communication with providers.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or equivalent training in a healthcare or business related field is preferred.
• Previous customer service experience in an office setting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of registration procedures, extensive computer skills, basic knowledge of system applications, billing systems, and third party payers is preferred.
• Medical terminology desired.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics.
• Create, scan and route documents and forms.
• Explain documents and obtain signatures.
• Determine financial responsibility and help with payment arrangements.
• Collect payments including co-pays and balances.
• Handle registration queue and resolve errors/denied claims.
• Coordinate appointments with nursing and providers.
• Handle referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Arrange interpreter services.
• Check in/out patients.
• Manage multi-line phone system.
• Address queue issues and paging providers.
• Prepare and coordinate charts.
• Organize provider documents.
• Initiate and assist with financial aid.
• Track visits and health records.
• Handle assessments.
• Coordinate Telemed appointments.
• Make reminder calls.
• Hospital admission processing.
• General office duties like copies and faxes.
