Job summary

UAB Medicine, Alabama's largest and most comprehensive health system, seeks a Patient Access Representative for our clinic operations. You will be the first point of contact, delivering exceptional customer service, handling patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to support smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner.
• Answer inbound calls and schedule appointments; make outbound calls to confirm or reschedule as needed.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the EMR.
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments ensuring date, time, provider, and location are correct.
• Respond to patient inquiries and direct calls/messages to staff.
• Explain billing information and assist patients with account questions.
• Manage check-in and check-out processes including payments and receipts.
• Verify medical insurance coverage using online tools and resources.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and waiting room.
