Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Center is recruiting for a Central Scheduler to join the Central Scheduling team in Sparks, NV. This full-time position handles admissions data entry, coordinates with ancillary departments, and supports performance improvement initiatives.

The role involves scheduling outpatient procedures, communicating with patients and families, and processing physicians’ orders using scheduling and imaging systems.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One year experience as surgery scheduler preferred.
• Radiology scheduling and insurance authorization preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to type minimum of 40 wpm.
• Knowledgeable in patient/guest relations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules patients in accordance with guidelines in the scheduling application for assigned outpatient procedures and in accordance with ancillary department specifications, including but not limited to: adding and deleting procedures and rescheduling procedures as needed.
• Obtains licensed nurse when family requests communication regarding patient’s condition, beyond the Schedule Coordinator’s scope of practice
• Obtains and processes physicians’ orders, i.e. calls to obtain orders, scans orders into the Document Imaging application, reminds patients to bring orders, etc. Review physician orders for appropriateness and address issues
