Job summary

Cullman Regional seeks a part-time PRN Registration Clerk for the Hartselle Emergency Department. You will collect data, verify insurance, obtain signatures, and help with patient billing while ensuring a safe, courteous patient experience.

Ideal candidates have clerical experience, strong customer service, and the ability to type 30 WPM. This role supports accurate registration and timely communications with patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of clerical experience is required; insurance verification and hospital/medical experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Computer experience is required.
• Must be able to type 30 WPM.
• Ability to interpret medical terminology is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately input into the hospital registration system.
• Obtain signatures on all forms and issue notices to patients or family members.
• Verify insurance and obtain certifications when needed; notify supervisors if missing information.
• Calculate estimated amount due and request payment using approved scripts.
• Document pertinent events regarding account handling and prior balances.

Job Summary

• Collect and accurately input into the hospital registration system.
• Obtain signatures on all appropriate forms and issue all required notices to the patient or appropriate family member.
• Verify insurance, identify certification requirements, and obtain them when necessary. Notify appropriate supervisory personnel if patient present for services and authorization is required but not on file.
• Calculate estimated amount due and request payment using the hospital approved scripts.
• Accurately and thoroughly document pertinent events regarding the handling of the account, including researching prior accounts.
• Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

One to two years of clerical skills required. Insurance verification and hospital or medical experience preferred.
