Job summary

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of registration and/or billing experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Excellent communication, detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Job description

Position Summary

Performs patient registration. Provides insurance benefits interpretation and counseling. Maintains medical terminology skills and knowledge of third party payer regulations. Performs patient and customer relations. Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High School or equivalent (GED) or higher is required.

Associate Degree: preferred

Bachelors Degree: preferred

2 years Customer Service is required

1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting is preferred.

Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required.

Basic computer skills

Pay Range

$16.00 - $22.86

Other Information

One year of experience in a healthcare front-office, patient access, scheduling, call-center, or customer-service setting preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Basic computer proficiency, including electronic health record (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Work Environment
  • This position is designated as 100% onsite and is performed primarily in an office and/or clinical setting.
  • Employees regularly interact with patients, families, healthcare providers, and other staff members in person and by telephone.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, headset, and other standard office equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while performing job duties.
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of items weighing up to 15 pounds.
Communication Requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, providers, and team members in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication methods.
  • Ability to exchange accurate information in a professional and timely manner.
Visual Requirements
  • Ability to view and read computer screens, electronic devices, documents, forms, reports, and other written materials required to perform job responsibilities.
Auditory Requirements
  • Ability to hear and understand conversations in person, by telephone, and through virtual communication platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic Cadence scheduling and registration.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology.
