Job summary

Cullman Regional is seeking a detail-oriented registration specialist to input patient information into the hospital system and obtain signatures on forms. You will verify insurance, identify certification needs, and communicate with supervision when authorization is missing.

Accurate documentation and courteous patient service are essential. The role involves calculating amounts due, following scripts for payments, and maintaining a smooth patient flow while upholding safety and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of clerical experience required; hospital/medical experience preferred.
• Insurance verification experience preferred.
• Ability to type 30 WPM and interpret medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Notify appropriate supervisory personnel if patient present for services and authorization is required but not on file.Calculate estimated amount due and request payment using the hospital approved scripts.Accurately and thoroughly document pertinent events regarding the handling of the account, including researching prior accounts.Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience:One to two years of clerical skills required. Insurance verification and hospital or medical experience preferred.Additional Skills/Abilities:Excellent customer service skills required. Computer experience required. Must be able to type 30 WPM. The ability to interpret medical terminology required.
