Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

This role supports all aspects of Point of Service Collections for BJC hospitals, including estimate generation and staff education. The position may be the first contact for potential patients, requiring high standards of customer service, compassion, and adherence to BJC standards. It ensures accurate insurance and financial information in patient records, manages projects supporting Patient Access, and develops innovative processes. The Lead facilitates pre-boarding and onboarding of Patient Access Representatives and mentors staff, coordinating work independently.

Responsibilities

  1. Communicate professionally and positively with patients, report system issues, and collaborate with vendors and IT resources. Cross-train in all pre-arrival services, provide training, and support staff development.
  2. Proficient in registration, authorization, and pre-arrival workflows, complying with Medicare, HIPAA, JCAHO, and other standards. Conduct quality audits and participate in staffing development and staff coaching.
  3. Handle service recovery, support operational issue resolution, and mentor staff on customer interactions.
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert, observe registration areas for mentoring, review reports for accuracy, and train staff on point-of-service payments. Identify trends related to audits and compliance.
  5. Adjust staffing based on volume, serve as a resource for staff questions, and ensure departmental productivity aligns with goals. Participate in weekend and holiday call rotations.
  6. This position is safety-sensitive; the ability to work alertly and safely is essential.
Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 2-5 years

Preferred Requirements

Education: Associate's Degree

Licenses & Certifications: CHAA
