Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Patient Access Representative for Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA. The role is full-time with an evening shift (2:30pm-11pm) and rotating weekends/holidays, performing patient check-in, insurance verification, and revenue-cycle coordination.

You will greet patients, pre-register and register, verify benefits, obtain required signatures, and ensure accurate financial responsibility collection, while delivering courteous service and effective problem

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalency.
• Associate degree preferred for higher consideration.
• Minimum one year experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service.
• Must have Outpatient Registration experience; HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet, pre-register and/or register patients; verify insurance benefits; check for pre-certification/authorization; obtain signatures and coordinate financial responsibility.
• Provide professional, high-quality customer service and timely problem resolution; communicate revenue cycle issues with patients and staff.
• Rotate through various areas of patient access and may work different shifts.

The primary function of the position is to greet, pre-register and/or register patients in a courteous and professional manner, verify insurance benefits and check for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization and referral. Perform medical necessity checks where needed. Secure patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient’s financial responsibility when required. The position is also responsible for providing professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers. The position functions to communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and other hospital colleagues. This position rotates into various areas of patient access and may work a variety of shifts.

Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalency
• Associate degree (Preferred)
• Minimum one (1) year experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service
• Must have Outpatient Registration experience
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
