Job summary

Astera Health seeks a part-time Patient Access/Administrative Clerk to support front-desk operations at the Wadena clinic, with periodic travel to satellite sites. You will greet patients, collect demographics and finances, and enter data into the EHR.

The role requires accurate multitasking and courteous patient interactions, across diverse visits. Responsibilities include scheduling, handling calls, processing payments, and keeping security routines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or in the process of obtaining.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respect for patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Receives patients and visitors and ascertains their needs in a caring, professional manner.
  • Secures demographic and financial information and enters data into the EHR.
  • Schedules clinic appointments and manages provider schedules.
  • Answers calls, transfers inquiries, and processes payments when appropriate.
  • Opens/closes the office for clinic security and supports supply requests.
  • Floats to satellite locations to cover staffing needs.

Job description

This position is part-time: 48 hours per pay period, Monday - Friday with hours between 7:30a - 5:00p. This position would primarily be located at our Wadena clinic, but will be expected to occasionally travel to other satellite clinics based on staffing needs. We also support work-life balance through benefits such as paid time off, long-term disability and our employee wellness initiative.Essential Duties:Supports the mission of Astera Health through personal conduct and behaviors that contribute ideas and suggestions, is helpful and friendly, demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality, and adheres to organizational policies and rules.Be a role model of Astera Health culture and core values.Receives patients and visitors and ascertains their needs to assist them using a caring a professional manner.Secures demographic and financial information from patients or family; obtains necessary signatures and enters information into the electronic health record to complete the registration process.Schedules clinic appointments and maintains provider clinic schedules.Floats to other patient access department locations to cover when necessary.Operates telephone console using a caring and professional manner to assist callers, answers questions and transfers calls to correct departments when appropriate.Requests and receives payments on accounts and prints receipts; reconciles and compiles daily cash drawer.Completes and submits supply requisitions to keep current stock of necessary supplies and forms.Opens and closes office for clinic security.Core Competencies:Ability to effectively operate standard office equipment and softwareStrong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates a high degree of commitment to customer service excellencePossess cross-cultural sensitivityAbility to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationshipsAbility to perform tasks both collaboratively and independentlyDemonstrates concern for patients of all ages, visitors, and co-workers.Maintains confidentiality of information and privacy compliance.Physical Requirements:Sedentary Duty: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body (based on U.S. Department of Labor data).
