Job summary

Astera Health is seeking a full-time Revenue Cycle/Patient Access Manager to oversee patient access services and the financial clearance team across satellite clinics. The role emphasizes improving patient experience and streamlining workflows in a multi-site healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, 3+ years in revenue cycle, and proven leadership with strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees patient access services metrics and workflows focused on patient experience and efficiency.
  • Drives improvement in front-end revenue cycle functions including payer verification and upfront collections.
  • Leads the patient access team and manages the financial clearance department (insurance verification, authorization/referral management, pre-registration).
  • Develops, monitors, and analyzes budgets and financial information to optimize billing and AR collections.

Job description

This position is a full-time:80 hours per pay period, Monday-Friday position with the requirement to travel to the satellite clinics. We also support work-life balance through benefits such as paid time off, long term disability and our employee wellness initiative.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversees, plans, directs, and evaluates patient access services metrics and workflows that focus on patient experience, strategy, and trend analysis.Drives improvement in front end revenue cycle functions including, but not limited to, payer verification and upfront payment collections.Works collaboratively with healthcare providers and clinical staff to develop a team-centered environment and ensure continuity of patient care and effective clinical operations.Develops, monitors, and analyzes budget and financial information and utilizes all resources in an effective and economical manner.Ensures the collection of comprehensive and accurate demographic and financial data to optimize timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.Completes all patient estimate functions, build requirements, maintenance, and support, and maintains accurate patient estimates and optimizing point of service collections.Leads and participates in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve the patient experience.Manages the patient access team for ownership of excellent patient service to the patients, families, and all other parties the team interacts with over the phone or in person.Manages the financial clearance department that includes insurance verification, authorization/referral management, pre-registration/pre-service collections, and the patient advocate team.Effectively hires, trains, and continues to provide ongoing coaching and development of employees.Supports the mission and positively exhibits the values of Astera Health through personal conduct and behaviors.Performs other duties as required or assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in healthcare management or related field.Three or more years of experience in revenue cycle and/or healthcare operations.Previous leadership experience.Equivalent education and experience is acceptable.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to customer service excellence.Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships.Ability to perform tasks both collaboratively and independently.Demonstrates concern for patients of all ages, visitors, and co-workers.Maintains confidentiality of information and privacy compliance.Physical and Mental DemandsWhile performing the responsibilities of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit and communicate with other individuals. The incumbent is also regularly required to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks involving the use of hands and fingers. The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
