Astera Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support licensed staff in clinical operations and patient care.   • Document accurately in patient charts and maintain confidentiality.
  • Assist with ambulation and movement of patients as directed.
  • Support with previsit planning and data collection for quality care.

Astera Health is hiring for a Patient Care Technician that will work directly with licensed professionals in the clinic setting to provide assistance and support in daily operational activities. Astera Health welcomes applications from both certified and non-certified professionals.This position is scheduled for 80 hours per biweekly pay period, Monday - Friday with the occasional travel to the satellite locations. We also support work-life balance through benefits such as paid time off, short and long-term disability and our employee wellness initiative.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Rooming patients and obtaining data to include: height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, and reception/clerical tasks.Reception/Clerical tasks which include: coordination of patient referrals, assisting patient to schedule appointments, take messages, restocking supplies and exam rooms.Assist with transferring of patients within the buildingCompete accurate documentation in patient chartsTurnover exam rooms between patientsPart of the clinical team and works under the direction of licensed staffDirect Patient Care Tasks:Rooming patients and reviewing medication list by history, reviewing allergy listsCompletes vital signs (Blood Pressure / Height / Weight / Pulse / O2 / Temperature / Pain assessment based on Wong-Baker pain scale)Chaperone examsTransportation of specimens to laboratoryRoom set up and take downPrevisit planningRestocking exam roomsAssist with ambulation / transfer patients within buildingAssist with paperwork – FMLA / PA’sAssist with data collection and standard quality of careOther duties as directed by licensed staffCore Competencies:Comprehensive knowledge of clinic workflows, structure and pathways.Ability to effectively operate standard medical equipment, electronic medical record software, and standard office equipment and softwareStrong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates a high degree of commitment to customer service excellencePossess cross-cultural sensitivityAbility to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationshipsAbility to perform tasks both collaboratively and independentlyDemonstrates concern for patients of all ages, visitors, and co-workers.Maintains confidentiality of information and privacy complianceMaintains confidentiality of information and privacy compliance.Physical Requirements:Medium duty is exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally or 10-15 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects (based on US Department of Labor data).
