Job summary

Care New England Health System (CNE) in Rhode Island seeks a detail-oriented Registration/PHI Specialist to obtain complete patient PHI and register patients efficiently into Patcom and Affinity systems. You will verify insurance information with payers and collect co-payments at registration, contributing to financial integrity.

The role requires strong communication, high typing speed, and experience in a medical office or customer service.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma and a minimum of two year job-related experience or equivalent is required.
• Certificate of Medical Terminology and strong oral communications skills are preferred.
• Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm with a working knowledge of personal computers with an ability to utilize multiple applications within an environment are required.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and receive patients and visitors, assist in comforting and interacting with patients and their families.
• Obtain complete and accurate PHI to properly register patients into Patcom and Affinity systems.
• Communicate with physicians’ offices to ensure accuracy of information needed for scheduling and registration.
• Obtain signatures for consent to surgery/treatment and financial responsibilities.
• Collect insurance co-payments during registration and for ED visits and other services.
• Organize test results, forms, and create daily registration schedules.
• Monitor Patcom and Affinity transactions to maintain accurate hospital census.
• Maintain courteous, professional interactions with staff, patients, and families.
