Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Registration Specialist to obtain Personal Health Information (PHI) and register Kent Hospital patients in Patcom and Affinity, in a timely and accurate manner, while explaining financial requirements to patients.

You will verify insurance with payers online, collect co-payments, organize test results and forms for the patient’s record, and maintain a current census using SSI systems, while delivering courteous, professional service and HIPAA-compliant

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; two years of related experience or equivalent.
• Certificate of Medical Terminology preferred.
• Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
• Typing speed 40 words per minute; proficient with PC applications.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and visitors with compassion.
• Obtain complete PHI to register patients into Patcom and Affinity.
• Explain financial requirements to patients professionally.
• Verify patient insurance information with payers online.
• Collect co-payments at registration and other payments as needed.
• Organize test results and medical forms for the permanent record.
• Maintain patient census across Patcom and Affinity.
• Communicate with physicians' offices to ensure accurate scheduling.
• Explain regulatory information such as HIPAA notices.
