Job summary

Care New England Health System in Warwick, RI is seeking a Registration/Admitting Clerk to obtain accurate Personal Health Information and register patients into the hospital systems. You will coordinate with physicians’ offices, collect co-pays, and manage documents for the patient’s medical record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; two years of related experience or equivalent preferred.
• Certificate in Medical Terminology and strong oral communication skills preferred.
• Exceptional patient relations and customer service skills are critical.
• Typing speed 40 wpm; ability to use multiple applications on PCs.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and visitors and communicate with police as needed.
• Obtain complete PHI for patient registration in Patcom/Affinity timely and accurately.
• Coordinate with physicians’ offices to schedule and register patients.
• Obtain signatures for consent and financial responsibilities.
• Collect co-payments and deposits during registration as appropriate.
• Organize test results and forms for the permanent medical record.
• Create daily reports identifying registration schedules for distribution.
• Verify insurance information with online payers to maintain billing integrity.
• Scan documents into SSI Imaging System.
• Explain regulatory information (HIPAA, Medicare notices) to patients.
• Manage bed assignments and coordinate with ED and OR to avoid delays; lead daily bed management meetings.
• Monitor Patcom and Affinity to maintain accurate census.
