Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Good keyboarding skills, computer experience and basic math.
• Excellent customer service and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Detail oriented with strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Interviews with patients in person or by phone.
• Obtains demographic and financial information.
• Collects co-pays.
• Performs ICD(X) coding.
• Performs medical necessity screening and communicates with physician's office to obtain correct diagnosis.
• Prepares all related forms, patient card and ID bracelet.
• Receives and disseminates information from other departments, physicians, and patients.
• Prepares documentation for each patient visit based on visit type.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and resource utilization as outlined in performance review.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
