Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare seeks a dedicated registration specialist to move patients smoothly through service departments and assist billing.

You will interview patients, verify insurance, estimate charges, and collect amounts due, while ensuring confidentiality and respectful interaction with patients, families, and staff. The role requires strong data entry, excellent communication, and proficiency with EPIC and registration systems; prior clerical experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Proven track record of excellent customer service skills.
• Navigate computer systems (Microsoft Office, registration systems, EPIC).
• Good typing skills and data entry abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the public.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Previous clerical or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients/family to obtain demographic and financial information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and determines payer entry to minimize denials.
• Estimates charges for outpatient exams to determine patient liability.
• Collects amounts due from patients and supports timely payment collection.
• Scans documents and obtains required signatures from patients.
• Completes forms required by government or commercial payers.
• Greets and assists patients per AIDET, while preserving confidentiality.
• Transports patients when needed and supports cross-training across areas.
