Job summary

Providence Swedish Ballard is seeking a patient access coordinator to support the flow of patients from arrival through discharge. You will handle registration, interview patients for demographics and financial data, and answer general billing questions.

The role requires an associate degree and 2 years in a medical setting; experience in registration, financial counseling, or insurance terminology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required
• 2 years of experience in a medical setting with inpatient or outpatient admitting
• Patient Registration or financial counseling or insurance and medical terminology experience

Responsibilities

• Coordinate information and support for patient flow in the Swedish Medical Center and Emergency Department environment.
• Provide front line customer service including reception and registration.
• Interview patients and families to obtain demographic and financial data, complete consents, escort/guide patients, and collect valuables.
• Answer general billing, insurance, or collection questions/concerns; assist with financial aid paperwork and alternate coverage options.
• Serve as POS team expert to enable efficient registration during hospitalization and coordinate coverage with Physician Offices.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and help cover shifts when needed.
