Job summary

Avera Health in Pierre, SD is seeking a friendly patient access clerk to register arrivals, verify demographics and insurance, and collect service payments. You will support scheduling, coordinate with care teams, and help patients access the Clinic's system for care.

Essential qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and the ability to communicate clearly, with attention to privacy and accuracy. This role requires teamwork and a service-oriented attitude.

Qualifications

• Required education: High School or GED or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration including demographics and insurance.
• Verifies insurance authorizations and collects service payments as appropriate.
• Scans pertinent information into the patient’s record.
• Answers calls, messages, and faxes and routes to appropriate departments if needed.
• Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office policies.
• Coordinates care delivery by aligning nurse, physician, and patient time and directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Education
