Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a friendly Patient Registrar for its Peoria clinic to ensure a smooth check-in through registration. You will collect patient information, verify insurance, obtain signatures, and deliver excellent customer service at the front desk.

The role involves handling new patient registrations, EMR entries, and coordinating with authorization teams, billing, and clinic staff. An eye for detail and knowledge of medical terminology are beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete New Patient registration for Peoria patients, including paperwork, insurance copies, ID, and patient photo in the EMR & billing software.
• Explain and obtain signatures on Patient Financial Agreement, HIPAA, E-Prescribing Consent, and Release forms.
• Review schedules for eReg paperwork and chart demographics completeness.
• Check Real Time eligibility for insurance changes and notify authorization teams.
• Contact patients to obtain information or schedule follow-ups.
• Monitor SDR insurance changes and inform authorization teams for review.
• Monitor Canopy Messaging and Insurance Change emails for updates.
• Identify indigent or reimbursement issues and provide information to patients about Financial Hardship.
• Follow up with staff and patients to ensure data completeness.
• Assist with basic billing questions and payments, walk-ins, and year-end insurance rush.
• Support duties of all positions in the Patient Registration Team.
• Other duties as assigned.
