Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• Basic clerical skills including typing, filing, and communication with public and medical staff.
• Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact.
• Ability to work with computers, electronic devices, telephones, and fax machines.
• Must obtain crisis prevention certification (if scheduled to work in the ESD).

Responsibilities

• Register patients efficiently in outpatient, lab, and emergency areas for in-patients.
• Gather correct information to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Check paperwork to ensure orders are complete with diagnosis and tests requested.
• Obtain identification and insurance information during registration.
• Direct reports of injury to appropriate agencies when needed.
