Job summary

Northwell is seeking a admissions clerk to admit patients, explain hospital rules, collect demographics and insurance information, and enter data into the Patient Registration System. You will prepare charts, forms, and addressograph plates, and coordinate with nursing units for patient flow.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma, experience in customer service, fast data entry (80 keystrokes per minute), and clear English communication; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior customer service experience.
• Data entry skills (80 keystrokes per minute).
• Must pass site training program within the normal probationary period.
• Communicate effectively in English (speaking and reading).

Responsibilities

• Admit patients to hospital and provide information regarding hospital regulations and policies.
• Conduct interviews to obtain demographics and insurance information and enter data into the Patient Registration System.
• Obtain signatures on medical, legal and financial forms; prepare registration charts and addressograph plates.
• Coordinate with nursing units; notify arrival and arrange patient escort to their room.
• Communicate hospital billing expectations and assist with basic insurance and registration tasks.
