Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking a part-time Patient Access/Registration Specialist to support outpatient and inpatient services. You will verify insurance, collect patient liabilities, and register patients across multiple departments, including ED and ambulatory services.

The role requires a high school diploma, English fluency, and at least one year of customer service experience. HFMA/NAHAM credentials within a year are preferred, with day shift hours and PRN availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within one year of hire.
• Minimum one year of customer service experience.
• Patient Access experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Validate/obtain and enter demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system by interviewing patient/family/guarantor.
• Register in various settings for multiple patient types (Inpatients, Outpatients, Ambulatory Surgery, ED, etc.).
• Prepare patient estimates, inform patients of liabilities, and collect co-pays, deductibles, and other balances at check-in.
• Obtain signed physician orders for tests and procedures.
• Prepare ID bracelets and collect required forms; audit and secure patient valuables as needed.
