Job summary

The Outer Banks Hospital part of ECU Health is seeking a patient registration specialist to join the Front Desk team. You will register patients, interpret insurance benefits, and counsel on coverage, while maintaining medical terminology knowledge and compliance with payer regulations.

Responsibilities include supporting patient and customer relations and handling routine inquiries. A high school diploma is required, with 2 years of customer service in healthcare preferred, for this full-time,

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent (GED) or higher is required.
• Associate Degree preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 2 years Customer Service is required.
• 1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication, detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient registration.
• Provides insurance benefits interpretation and counseling.
• Maintains medical terminology skills and knowledge of third party payer regulations.
• Performs patient and customer relations.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
