Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN seeks a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Services/Unit Clerk to be the first point of contact in OPD Medicine. You will gather, enter and verify registration details, collect co-pays, and facilitate patient flow throughout visits.

You will verify insurance information, scan documents, and ensure HIPAA and financial policies are respected while maintaining professional communication with patients and clinic staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years clerical, customer service, or related experience (medical office or admin services) required.
• At least 1 year experience in unit clerk, medical office, or related field; completion may be substituted with appropriate training (documentation required).

Responsibilities

• Greets patients upon arrival in practice.
• Completes and verifies registration information for each patient.
• Verifies patient identity and address per protocol.
• Ensures benefit verification for current service date.
• Scans insurance cards into system and ensures required signatures.
• Collects co-pays and processes payments; balance cash drawer.
• Updates system to indicate patient as checked in.
• Performs encounter edits, scheduling, and referrals as needed.
• Schedules follow-ups and assists with referrals.
• Maintains waiting room service quality and HIPAA/compliance standards.
• Back-up for coverage and flexible scheduling as required.
