Job summary

Qualifications

• Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame.
• Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital

Responsibilities

• Interviews incoming patients or representatives and enters admission information into the computer database.
• Enter information from other facilities, including specimens.
• Ensures patient demographics, insurance coverage, and authorizations are collected to the best of their ability based on patient condition.
• Provides patients with information about billing, complaint process, patient rights and responsibilities, and visiting hours; distributes hospital literature as needed.
• Familiar with hospital services related to payment arrangements and refers to the business office when necessary
• Assists in starting the financial analysis procedure and notes system entries when needed
• Collects payments for self-pay and copays from insured patients
• Explains consent forms, privacy notices, and registration documents during registration
• Resolves registration and insurance issues in a timely manner
• Maintains accurate records and coordinates with clinical staff, physicians' offices, insurance companies, and other pertinent staff
