Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to ensure timely patient registration and accurate demographic data. You will act as a liaison between patients, families, payers, Medical Records and PFS to secure reimbursement and maintain compliance with EMTALA and the Joint Commission.

You will verify insurance benefits, obtain referrals/authorizations, estimate patient liability, and pre-register patients 2–10 days before visits, ensuring clean data entry and efficient

Qualifications

• HS diploma required.
• 6 months admissions experience preferred.
• Associate or bachelor's degree may substitute for the experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtains, verifies and enters complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Searches the patient accounting system to locate existing medical records and avoid duplicates.
• Enrolls patient information with correct spelling, DOB, gender, addresses and guarantor data.
• Monitors DARs/work queues and secures all account elements for billing.
• Maximizes hospital reimbursement by financially securing patient accounts and providing service.
• Verifies insurance benefits and enters payor/plan into the system; estimates patient liability when needed.
• Secures authorizations/referrals as required and works with the appropriate teams.
• Pre-registers patients 2-10 days before appointments and registers unscheduled patients promptly.
• Initiates pre-certification for inpatient admissions as needed.
