Job summary

SoHum Health - Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in California is seeking a Patient Registration Clerk to support patient intake and front-desk operations under the supervision of the PFS Manager.

You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and use the EHR system to schedule and document visits, while upholding HIPAA and EMTALA requirements.

This full-time role offers daily interactions with patients and families in a rural healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of customer service.
• Two years general office experience.
• Two years of experience with EMR/EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, obtain demographics, insurance information, identification, etc.
• Understands and complies with healthcare regulations, including but not limited to: HIPAA, EMTALA, etc.
• Completes paperwork needed for clinic, hospital acute care, SNF, Outpatient hospital and ED, clinic protocols for scheduling and registration of patients, including obtaining all proper forms of consent.
• Collects and records payments from patients appropriately.
• Daily balance of the registration cash boxes accurately.
• Appropriately sort and process incoming mail.
• Understands the functionality of the EHR for registration, eligibility, scheduling, registration documentation and MSPQ documentation.
• Answers basic questions by patients or their agents regarding scheduling and registration of an account.
