Job summary

Salinas Valley Health is seeking a Registration Clerk to perform patient registration and data entry to support inpatient and outpatient visits. You will collect demographics, verify insurance information, and prepare charts for care teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, and the ability to communicate with patients and families in a busy hospital setting. Day shift, full-time, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 1 year data entry and medical office experience.
• Experience coordinating patient intake and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, families, and the public in a courteous, professional manner.
• Identifies patient with photo identification.
• Interviews patient or patient’s representative to obtain demographics.
• Enters demographic information into the hospital computer system.
• Obtains patient financial data and pre-authorization for treatment when required.
• Prepares and routes paperwork for patient chart/medical record.
• Embosses patient ID card and creates patient labels.
• Bands patient with the appropriate ID band.
• Determines primary and secondary payor and enters data in the system.
