Job summary

Cook Children’s in Fort Worth is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I to facilitate patient registration and support the admissions workflow. You will establish positive relationships with patients and families while presenting and explaining required legal and compliance documents.

This role does not provide direct patient care. The position requires a high school diploma and healthcare office experience, with strong customer service skills and basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of healthcare office or hospital experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills required.
• Understanding of revenue cycle and patient financial resources.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, patient rights and responsibilities, and payers.
• Detail oriented with professional and clear communication.
• Basic typing/keyboard skills and computer literacy.
• Basic understanding of insurance benefits (in-network vs out-of-network, co-pay/co-insurance).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient registration and access to hospital/clinic services.
• Build positive relationships with patients and families during the registration process.
• Explain and complete legal, ethical, and compliance documents for patients.
• Support admission/registration workflow in a hospital setting.
