Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Patient Access Specialist in Cartersville, GA. The role involves greeting patients, registering demographics, verifying insurance, and guiding patients through financial clearance processes.

The position supports pulmonary medicine services, with responsibilities including scheduling, follow-ups, and ensuring accurate documentation for efficient care delivery. On-site hours are Monday through Friday, with potential for future full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access and financial clearance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payer requirements helpful.
• Ability to explain HIPAA/EMTALA rules and insurance pre-certification requirements.
• Strong mathematical, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients arriving for appointments and manage patient flow for efficiency and courtesy.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information; complete registration for walk-ins.
• Verify pre-authorizations and eligibility; collect balances and coordinate with Financial Counselor as needed.
• Perform visit closures and schedule follow-ups; provide required documents to patients.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and published insurance plans; communicate issues to management.
• Assist with billing, scheduling, and financial clearance in accordance with policies.
