Job summary

Dignity Health – Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Patient Registration Representative to deliver a positive patient experience during registration, collect demographics, verify insurance, and explain hospital policies.

You will handle CMS requirements, financial clearance, and EMTALA compliance, and work with patients and payers to ensure accurate data and timely reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
• Minimum 1 year experience in hospital patient registration or related revenue cycle roles.
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients and collect accurate demographics.
• Verify insurance benefits and determine financial liability.
• Explain hospital policies and patient rights to families.
• Enter data into the ADT system accurately and avoid duplicates.
• Ensure required documents are scanned and signed.
• Comply with HIPAA, EMTALA and related regulations.
• Provide financial clearance and assist with payment plans.
