Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina's Carolina Family Care division seeks a friendly receptionist to greet patients and families, collect demographic and insurance data, and schedule appointments, either by phone or in person.

You will handle pre-registration, verify and collect payments, and support referrals while upholding privacy and patient rights. 40 hours weekly in Charleston area within a HIPAA-compliant, customer-service driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations.
• Experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and update demographic and insurance information for all patients.
• Meet standard productivity metrics while performing the pre-registration and registration process.
• Complete all regulatory and compliance related forms for the visit.
• Complete verification and payment workflow, including screening for potential funding sources, and setting patient expectations for reimbursement.
• Demonstrate commitment to positive patient and family experiences and excellence in customer service.
