Job summary

Cherry Health in Michigan is seeking a Specialist, Patient Registration to act as the primary contact for patients and the public. This full-time onsite role focuses on scheduling, insurance eligibility, billing and responding to patient questions, while adhering to HIPAA and organizational policies.

Based at the Montcalm Area Health Center, the position requires 8am–6pm, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and travel to other Cherry Health clinics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• One year of experience in a healthcare setting with electronic medical record experience or equivalent.
• Ability to collect and verify patient information, schedule appointments, and handle billing/insurance queries.

Responsibilities

• Open registration area and phones at start of shift and complete closing procedures.
• Greet patients and collect documentation, verify insurance eligibility and obtain signatures.
• Enter patient information accurately in the system and process payments or bill patients.
• Schedule and confirm, reschedule appointments per scheduling guidelines.
• Communicate regarding sliding fee scale costs and payment options.
• Monitor daily schedules and report variations to improve efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare productivity reports.
• Manage office supplies and perform general clerical duties.
• Participate in annual training including CPR and other required courses.
