Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Access Services Representative 2 to register patients, verify insurance, and collect financial responsibilities. The role involves supporting multiple areas, with mentorship to peers and cross-training as needed.

The position requires strong empathy and communication, 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience, and the ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills, and professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful environment including trauma and life events.
• Demonstrates high empathy and communicates well with patients and families.
• Strong data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigation skills.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration and billing.
• Verifies insurance benefits and collects patient financial responsibilities.
• Establishes patient liability and informs deposit requirements per policy; negotiates payment arrangements if needed.
• Assists patients to nursing units and provides directions or mobility support; escalates issues as needed.
