Job summary

Stanford Health Care - University Healthcare Alliance seeks a Medical Assistant to manage high volumes of patient calls, registrations, and referrals. The role includes coordinating care between patients, providers, and clinics while maintaining accurate EHR documentation and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training.
• 2-3 years of patient care experience in a medical office.
• 2-3 years of experience in patient access, or a call center preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients, schedules appointments, and updates patient registration.
• Resolves any system red flags as they are encountered.
• Identifies accepted insurance plans and those requiring referrals, obtains and updates insurance information if necessary.
• Assists patients with general questions and coordinates care with physicians or clinics.
• Documents and routes calls to the proper department(s) and maintains HIPAA/compliance standards.
• Manages EHR in-baskets, refills, referrals, and patient messages across multiple regions.
