Qualifications

• High School / GED required; post-secondary education preferred.
• Two years customer service experience preferred, esp. in registration, scheduling, insurance, medical records, or billing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient records using two identifiers.
• Greets/interviews patients by phone to obtain insurance and demographic info.
• Enter data into the registration system (medical, demographic, insurance, precertification, medical necessity).
• Verify insurance benefits, precertification status, and medical necessity information.
• Determine patient financial responsibility and post copays/deductibles/coinsurance.
• Assist patients with payment arrangements when appropriate.
• Complete registrations and preregistrations promptly.
• Escort patients to treatment locations.
• Provide coverage in other Patient Access areas as needed.
• Attend departmental staff meetings and complete required NetLearning modules.
