Job summary

ARMC Healthcare System is seeking a Patient Access Specialist at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center’s Central Registration. You will greet patients, register, schedule and verify insurance information while ensuring accurate demographic data and consent forms.

You will manage co-pays, coordinate with insurers and physicians, and use hospital systems to support billing and patient care departments, while complying with relevant regulations.

Qualifications

• Completion of High School or GED; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Medical terminology experience is preferred.
• Basic PC software knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems.
• Extensive knowledge of billing and insurance preferred.
• Organizational skills required.
• Keyboarding skills essential (40 WPM).

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, greet patients, check-in/out, register, schedule and confirm appointments for all Central Registration areas.
• Verify demographic, insurance and financial information and obtain signatures for consent to treatments.
• Enter diagnosis, procedures and physician information for medical records.
• Communicate with insurance companies and physicians regarding coverage and authorization.
• Collect co-pays and ensure compliance with EMTALA and JCAHO requirements.
