Job summary

Advocate Health in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist I to help patients access high-cost medications via manufacturer patient assistance programs, including copay support. You will collaborate with patients, clinics, pharmacies, manufacturers, and internal teams to complete applications and coordinate medication access.

The role requires attention to documentation and timely follow-up, with a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and pay range

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in health care, insurance, pharmacy, or medical field.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred with patient, prescription, insurance knowledge.
• Experience with patient access, medication workflows and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Completes area-specific work per standard processes and policies.
• Serves as expert with equipment and technology in the specialized area.
• Solves technical issues in the specialized area as they arise.
• Ensures documents and records are accurate and completed promptly.
• Supports communication with patients and care team.
• Identifies quality improvement opportunities for safe patient care.
• Supports implementation of operational changes and standardization.
• Participates in site or system work teams and councils as applicable.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Keeps current with changes and shares best practices with leadership.
• Maintains knowledge and educates others.
• Contributes to execution of department initiatives.
• Accepts tasks from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates.
