Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to staff multiple hospital entry points, including the Emergency Department, Outpatient Imaging and Outpatient Surgery. You will manage pre-registration, registration, verification, and collection of patient demographics and payments.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year in patient access or medical office clerical work, and strong communication skills with knowledge of insurance plans and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collection or pre-certification preferred.
• 1 year customer service experience preferred.
• 1 year clerical experience in medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Staff multiple hospital entry points to provide registration-related functions.
• Perform pre-registration, registration, verification and gathering of patient information.
• Identify source of payment, collect payment and interface with insurers.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory guidelines and JCAHO requirements; cross-train in multiple areas.
