Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in South Carolina is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to greet patients and collect demographic information for registration and care. You will verify third-party details, explain forms, and ensure compliance with hospital policies while supporting accurate data and reimbursement processes.

The role requires strong customer service, insurance processing knowledge, and proficiency with office equipment; CPI may be required for certain staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business or related major required; equivalent office experience may be considered.
• Minimum of two years experience in a health care facility or equivalent position.
• CPI required for staff who work in FED or obtained within 90 days.
• Medical Terminology (Basic), Phone etiquette, Microsoft Excel, good mathematical skills, detail oriented; knowledge of insurance processing requirements (auth, verification, terms, and regulations).

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients; collect and process non-scheduled patients’ demographic information.
• Explain required forms in the registration process (Living Will, MSP questionnaire, financial authorization, etc.).
• Demonstrate use of office equipment (fax, scanner, copier, embosser).
• Understand insurance processing requirements (verification, authorization, terms, and regulations).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
