Job summary

Novant Health is seeking an experienced Patient Access Specialist to staff registration points across multiple hospital locations, including the Emergency Department, Outpatient Imaging, and Outpatient Surgery. You will perform pre-registration, registration, verification, and demographic/financial data collection while coordinating with insurers and hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collection, insurance and/or pre-certification in a medical environment preferred.
• One year of customer service experience in any field preferred.
• One year of clerical experience in medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Staff multiple hospital entry points to provide registration-related functions including Emergency Department, Outpatient Imaging, and Outpatient Surgery.
• Handle pre-registration, registration, verification, and collection of patient demographic and financial information.
• Identify source of payment and collect payment interfacing with insurers, hospital staff, and medical staff.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulatory compliance guidelines and joint commission requirements.
• Cross-train in multiple administrative support functions and registration points; work in fast-paced environment including weekdays and weekends.
• Assist patients into registration area and provide bedside registration when required.
