Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• 1–3 years of customer service experience required.
• 1–3 years in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with database software applications helpful.
• On-the-job computer and switchboard experience desirable.
• Medical terminology knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and protect patient confidentiality.
• Process pre-registration or registration for all patient types without duplicates.
• Scan insurance cards and interpret insurance responses.
• Obtain signatures on forms and direct patients to the appropriate department.
• Refer self-pay patients to navigator for Medicaid or Health Exchange assistance.
• Provide patient cost estimates as requested.
• Collect patient copays according to guidelines.
• Perform other general administrative tasks as requested by supervisors.
• PBX operator duties as needed, including switchboard operation and paging.
