Job summary

Nemours Children's Health in Delaware is seeking a Patient Access Service Specialist II (PASS) to join our 24/7 team. You will perform patient admitting and registration, verify insurance, collect copays, and coordinate transfers to support timely, quality care.

You will provide empathetic service to patients and families, adhere to EMTALA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards, and work with nursing and transport staff to complete registrations and follow-up appointments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of one year of patient or customer service experience.
• Three years of experience preferred.
• Must have computer, customer service and written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient identification and collect demographic, geographic and financial information for registration.
• Obtain signatures for consent to treat and financial responsibility forms.
• Adhere to EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA and Joint Commission regulations and inform patients accordingly.
• Deliver empathetic customer service to patients, families, physicians, and payors.
• Coordinate transfers and discharges with nursing and transport staff.
• Verify insurance benefits using Epic and external payor options.
• Collect copays and post payments to patient accounts.
• Schedule follow-up appointments for discharge patients.
• Support after-hours services with other departments as needed.
• Scan insurance cards, consent forms and documents into the EMR.
• Maintain stock of supplies and ensure accuracy in work queues.
