Job summary

Nemours is seeking a Patient Access Service Specialist II (PASS) to join our Delaware team. This role performs patient admitting and registration, insurance verification, copay collection, and transfers for emergent and urgent patients in a 24/7 environment.

The PASS provides professional, patient-focused service and adherence to all regulatory requirements while supporting hospital operations and coordinating with nursing and transport teams. Flexible schedule and part-time hours are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of one year of patient or customer service experience.
• Three years of experience preferred.
• Must have computer, customer service and written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient identification and collect demographic, geographic and financial information for registration.
• Obtain signatures for consent to treat and financial responsibility forms.
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
• Provide empathetic customer service to patients, families, physicians and payors.
• Coordinate transfers and discharges with nursing and transport staff.
• Verify insurance benefits and collect applicable copays.
• Support other departments during after-hours and follow-up scheduling.
• Scan insurance cards and documents into the EMR.
• Maintain stock of supplies and ensure accuracy in work queues.
