Job summary

UVA Prince William Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to ensure seamless, compassionate entry into care across UVA Health’s academic medical system. You will support patient intake, registration, scheduling, and financial clearance with high accuracy.

On a typical day you will register patients, verify insurance, update demographics, and guide patients through processes with clear, empathetic communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration, insurance verification, and demographic updates with a high level of accuracy.
• Communicate directly with patients and families, providing clear guidance on processes, expectations, and next steps.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, providers, and fellow access staff to resolve complex scheduling or registration challenges.
• Maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while prioritizing patient care and compliance standards.
