Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients across hospital access points, verify insurance, and document in the EHR. You will gather and update demographic and account information, support scheduling, and help the care team provide a positive patient experience.

In this role you will communicate financial responsibilities, explain estimates and collect payments at the time of service, while ensuring accuracy and privacy in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required at hire.
• Preferred: 1 year in healthcare or patient access; knowledge of registration procedures, health insurance payers, and real-time eligibility verifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration across access points with accurate demographics, insurance eligibility and confidential EHR documentation.
• Scan, index, and manage patient documents to support registration, billing and clinical workflows.
• Communicate patient financial responsibility using education tools, provide estimates, and collect payments at service time.
• Schedule, confirm, and revise patient appointments to support timely access to care and clinic workflows.
• Identify and resolve routine registration and insurance discrepancies; escalate complex issues as needed.
• Provide patient-facing support by phone and other channels, documenting interactions per standard procedures.
