Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Patient Access Team Lead for Admitting & Offsite Outpatient locations. You will lead daily patient registrations, ensure financial clearance, and supervise front-line staff to deliver exceptional customer service.

The role requires coordinating with Supervisors, managing training deliveries, and supporting efficient patient throughput while ensuring compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree with two years of working experience in customer service, public health, healthcare, or related industry; or four years' demonstrated excellence in customer service or call center in healthcare or access services.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication, computing and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to communicate with customers under stress (sick patients and distressed family members).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations/registrations at assigned locations with input from Supervisor/Manager.
• Ensure staff follow training modules and workflows.
• Coach staff and address training needs and concerns.
• Manage high-volume appointment scheduling and ensure proper patient identification and insurance coverage are obtained.
