Job summary

SUN Behavioral Delaware is seeking an Intake Specialist to verify patient demographics, check insurance eligibility, collect co-pays, and assist with financial assistance applications. You will work closely with Intake and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate admissions documentation.

The role requires strong customer service, organizational and communication skills, knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, and proficiency with WellSky.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and CPR certification required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses at admission.
• Assist with financial assistance applications and charity processes.
• Obtain necessary signatures and explain hospital policies.
• Prepare preregistration and admissions documentation for scheduled visits.
• Provide information on billing, HIPAA rights, and visiting hours.
• Maintain WellSky emails and support patient flow across departments.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and privacy guidelines.
