Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Access professional to coordinate patient flow, handle inquiries, and support the department with knowledge of insurance requirements and pricing. The role emphasizes compassionate, professional service to patients and families across a busy hospital setting.

Minimal experience is acceptable with completion of the required training; the position requires detail orientation, strong communication, and the ability to work in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
• Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Desired: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Experience with computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, knowledge of EMR applications, etc.)
• Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines.
• Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and timely processing of inquiries within the department/hospital.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, pricing, financial assistance options, and the Revenue Cycle operations.
• Provide professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients, families, employees and physicians in alignment with Baptist Health South Florida’s service standards.
