Job summary

Valley Vital Care is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to help patients overcome barriers to access lifesaving therapies. You will work with patients, providers, insurers, pharmacies, and manufacturers to ensure timely access to specialty and biologic treatments.

Responsibilities include benefit investigations, coverage verification, copay assistance coordination, and educating patients on costs and programs. Strong customer service and insurance terminology knowledge are important.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-1 year of healthcare or patient access experience or insurance verification is relevant.
  • Familiarity with medical insurance terminology is preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

What You'll Do

As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will partner with patients, providers, insurance companies, pharmacies, and manufacturers to ensure patients have timely access to specialty and biologic therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete benefit investigations and insurance verification for specialty, biologic, and acute referrals.
  • Verify patient coverage and identify financial responsibilities.
  • Coordinate copay assistance, manufacturer programs, and financial assistance resources.
  • Advocate for patients by identifying solutions to overcome financial barriers.
  • Collaborate with intake, authorization, pharmacy, and clinical teams to ensure timely therapy starts.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and available assistance programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within company systems.
  • Track referrals and proactively resolve access issues before they delay patient care.
  • Escalate complex payer or coverage issues when appropriate.
Qualifications
Patient Access Coordinator I
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-1 year of healthcare, patient access, insurance verification, benefits, or medical office experience
  • Familiarity with medical insurance terminology
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
Patient Access Coordinator II
  • 1-3 years of patient access, benefit investigation, or insurance verification experience
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy, biologics, infusion therapy, or specialty medications preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturer copay and patient assistance programs
  • Ability to independently manage the patient access process
Patient Access Coordinator III
  • 3+ years of patient access or specialty pharmacy experience
  • Advanced knowledge of payer requirements, appeals, and financial hardship programs
  • Experience resolving complex insurance issues
  • Previous mentoring, training, or leadership experience preferred
